Socialism does not work


Socialism in Europe and in this country always starts the same way – promise people free health care and free retirement and free housing and whatever free stuff wins political favor and gets you reelected. This is what progressive liberals do and what Obama is doing. And people keep voting for them because they love "free stuff".  They don't care where the money comes from. 

Some claim that the "rich" will pay for it all. But, the rich do not have enough money. They may have enough to pay for the very poor, but not for everyone. So, the socialists borrow the money. That way, they are still giving the populace free health care. But, at some point you can't borrow the money anymore because the people you are borrowing it from realize that they will never be paid back. This is the tipping point at which socialism fails. Past this point, you have to tax the people to whom you promised the "free" stuff in order to pay for their "free" stuff (those people are the middle class).

The people understandably don't want to give up their free stuff  -- or have to pay for it. But, they will have to do one or the other. And, an entire generation will suffer. Have a look at the EU right now and you can see it in all it's gory details. And -- make no mistake -- we're right behind them unless we wise-up real fast.

I have liberal friends who try to tell me that the austerity and pain in Europe today is because of GOP “Policies”. Europe’s pain and contraction is precisely because  20 years of profligate Socialist spending and borrowing is no longer working. When a country’s debt to GDP ratio gets into the 100% range, rating agencies begin to downgrade government debt. It is simple math. Sooner or later, the Piper will be at the door carrying an AK-47.

    Then why exactly are you going to vote for Mittens?

    He's for:

    1. Socialism for business
    2. Socialism in healthcare (The GOP are pushing repeal and replace, which just means a more poorly funded version of the previous bill, not free market healthcare!)
    3. Socialism in Money (super FED supporter)
    4. Socialism in democracy - Loves foreign war for the US gov to prop up loser governments that it likes.

    In short, he's all for picking winners and losers just like Obama. It's just a different set of winners and losers. Nothing more.

    Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still evil. The correct response is to send a message and DO NOT VOTE. By not voting you are withholding your consent. You are saying "I do not consent to be governed by any of you."

    And that's the most important and powerful message we can possibly have. When less than half of the American people vote, then the government has no mandate. Short of being able to vote for Ron Paul or someone similar, this is the only tactic that will work.

    Don't get caught in the system like everyone else. Just refuse to play their game and you take away their power.

    This is a very simple equation for me. In the past 3 1/2 years, Obama has undone a good many of the basic tenets of a free society - one that our Founders envisioned. If he gets reelected, we're sunk. I'd vote for a rock to occupy the Oval Office if I thought it would result in getting rid of this utter goon. That's the difference between you and me. You're an ideologue. I am a realist.

FIREFOX / IE Word-Wrap, Word-Break, TABLES FIX

One of the most annoying things a developer (who would normally delight in writing code, not futzing with markup) can have is getting rendering issues between different browsers. Some observations on Script Callbacks, "AJAX", "ATLAS" "AHAB" and where it's all going.

I've taken a more than cursory interest in the whole Remote Scripting (.NET species) vs. AJAX and now ATLAS discussion, mostly because I started using Remote Scripting since Microsoft first released it, and because I continued to refine it after seeing Brent Ashley's excellent work with JSRS, which was one of the first "real" cross-browser solutions back in 2000 (that's the turn of the Century for you history buffs). Now Bertrand Leroy, a Microsoft guy whose work I like , has authored some very interesting ASP.NET 2.0 script callback stuff that he points to on his blog, and he is obviously (at least, to me he is) involved quite heavily in the development of this new ATLAS infrastructure that they'll preview at PDC. IE7 - Vista: "Internet Explorer has stopped Working"

This one was a bitch. All of a sudden for no reason at all, out of the blue, I get this dialog "internet Explorer has stopped working". I didn't install any new software, crap- I didn't do anything! So here I am using FIREFART to go on the internet and find out what to do! Damn! Good thing I've got the sucker on the same machine (I'm not "anti-Firefox", i just don't use it that much except to check my page renderings). The Fix The fix (at least for me): 1) Go into Control Panel, and choose "Internet Options". 2) Under the "Advanced" tab, press the "RESET" button at the lower right: Don't ask me why this happens, or why the fix works. That's a BUG, D00D - I don't care how you slice it!
